ooo thanks so much guys, the hamper sounds cool :)

I did put this to oh last night...but with his swine flu brain..dont think he made much sense of it!! Explained that sit down would be £2800 aaah!

I know exactly what I would like....but the venue wont do it - thai style noodles, fresh fish, tonnes of fruit, vegetarian sushi etc

Will the venue allow you to arrange outside caterers, if so I would contact local thai resturants to see if they outside cater?
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

We're having a buffet but on the tables type thing. Based on the fact we love Meze, Tapas, Fondue type meals i.e. lots of bits to pick at.

Anything people don't like, they don't have to have and am going to ask the caterers to put more meat free dishes on the tables where I know the 3 veggie/vegans are sitting :-)

If the venue will allow outside caterers then there are firms that specialise in vegetarian and vegan menus so you are not limited to nut roast or mushroom risotto.

You could even have a moroccan style and sit on cushions etc in a tent. There are all sorts of options. Google is a wonderful search engine so try googling harem tents, vegetarian caterers etc.

We had a picnic, our venue was our local park - everyone brought their own food, we provided the rugs to sit on, half a dozen radios all tuned the the same station, drink [non alcoholic] the cake and the games! We played rounders, kids played pass the parcel, everyone had a goodie bag [poundland toys] the whole 'reception' cost almost nothing :D
