Ha ha was just about to post this. Yes they have done it a few times before. I think the last one was a slowcook meal for two. Seems very good value to me. If you get the Telegraph this weekend where there's a £10 off £50 spend you can save even more money:j:j.

I do like Waitrose but I think they'll have to get their act together a bit more if they're going to compete with M & S on this.

Today at 8.30am my very large Waitrose had very few of the main 'meat and fish' course items, but I'd already decided to go for the rump steak which they did have. But the pieces are very small and the packs are all the same price - £3.49 - which eliminates the digging around for the largest and best bargain. The Gu puds are always great so that was OK. But there were two other 'courses' which I got confused, since they seemed to be similar - veg and/or sauces and they didn't have many of them. There was only one choice of red or white wine (or chocolates) which doesn't compare to the M&S variety. Asked if they had some of the other items not on show and was told 'we've got them in the stock shed but we can't get them out yet'.

And at the end, I saved myself £4.46 on five items, and on occasions I've saved myself over £9 at M&S on four items. I think they should have a re-think about what they're doing, since I won't be bothering again.

Could someome please confirm if there's an option for vegetarians instead of the meat/fish?

    Thanks

I don't think there can be - which is also not a good selling point. It was pretty much as the OP listed above. Each 'course' has a sticker on it - either 1, 2, 3, 4 (the wine didn't have one), and you have to have one of each type, don't think you can have say, 2 number 2.

No vegetarian option I'm afraid. And I went tonight to buy these and it was like the above posted said - Saved about 4.60 per deal. I did feel they were good quality items though.

Got two deals, however only one went through at the correct price, so I had to line up and get a refund. I would recommend putting through the five items first, just to make sure....or doing them seperate altogether.

    I was happy enough....not sure I'd make it a regular thing :)

Very disappointing there is no vegetarian option!
  • Me too :( veggies always seem to lose out on offers.

To be fair, M & S always seem to have a veggie alternative in their Dine In for £10 offers; I was really surprised at the haphazard way Waitrose seem to have gone in for this though. I cooked the rump steak last night and, because the pieces were so small, they were a bit overcooked which didn't help. The Gu pud was good though.
