read lots of threads and want to give a shopping challenge a go.
we currently spend around £400 for a family of 6( 2 adults & 4 children(13,9,7,3)) the 2 eldest children have very healthy appetites.
what would be a sensible amount to aim for?
they have packed lunches so have to buy for those too.
is making your own bread really cheaper?the same for yoghurt?
the more i save on shopping the more i can pay off our debts

Do you shop weekly or monthly? How about trying to knock off £10 or £20 per week and seeing how you go?
If you have a Lidl nearby, I'd definitely recommend it. Loose produce is cheaper than prepackaged veggies etc.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
What I do is keep a record of how much I spend on individual items each week, then I see how much over a month.
That way its easy to see where buying in bulk might be cheaper say for loo rolls or washing powder.
Same for Bread and Yogs, you will see how much you have spent on bread, the cost up how much it would have cost to buy the ingredients.
Best of luck. It can be done with hints and tips on here. We went from £320.00 to £200.00 per month, for two adults.0
