    i really like this one
    Please find within this poem
    Information just for you,
    With some rules and regulations
That we both insist you do.

Save the date of (Saturday 17th June)
Is the first thing to say
To share the love and happiness
    On our wedding day.

    The second one is vital
If you're to be our guest,
To eat, drink and be merry
    Or do your very best.

The third one is an order
So don't bring two left feet,
As when the evening comes around
You MUST dance to the beat.

The fourth rule can be broken
    We really do not mind,
But if you choose to follow it
    Thank you for being kind.

We've been together for a few years
    And have a lovely home,
There are not too many items now
    We don't already own.

So if your thoughts were on a gift
    Your presence will suffice,
But if you really feel the need
Then travel vouchers would be nice.

The choice is really up to you
And we would like to say
We hope you come, enjoy yourselves
    And have a lovely day.

I'm with your mum on this one. Just don't say anything, you'll be surprised at how many people just ask you.

i would rather just put a poem in with the invites:o
dont want to 'ask'for money it doesnt sound nice

dont get me wrong i understand alot of people dont have the money and i would much rather people just come to my wedding without anything

just dont want to end up with 3 kettles 2 toasters and things that will just end up in the charity shop!

I'm going down the 'say nothing' route. Doesn't matter how nice the poem is, or how well it rhymes, they still come across as a bit rude and money-grabbing. Just my 2pence worth. No one buys kettles or toasters these days and most will give vouchers or money without having to be asked. I'd be less inclined to give money if it was requested. Maybe that's just me?
  • i think its one of those subjects that clearly divides opinions

each to their own is say, ive never had this in any wedding invites but have had the old wedding list

both very similar IMO and im not sure how they are viewed by most folf as great idea or downright presumptious

I don't like wedding lists either. The concept makes me feel all wrong! Have never been to a wedding with a list or a money poem; probably my friends are of a similar mind.

As my mum always says; I want doesn't get!
  • i have been at a few wediings with lists, it has saved any efforts picking pressies but we wont be having one - i think they are cheeky

not sure bourt the money poem, seems like a good idea but dont want to offend, i just know cash would be a godsend for us rather than vouchers or towels :D

but like i said in a diif post, pressies aint important, guests turning up & shareing in th joy of the day are
