plain iced sponge cakes??

does anyone know where I can buy some plain iced sponge cakes?? I need 5 for this saturday so I can iced names on for a joint birthday party.
I don't think I'm up to baking 5 of them in a day!!

(oh and I've tried sainsburys already. They don't seem to do them)

  • They do plain ones in Tesco - the ones they use to print photos onto, rather expensive for this purpose though!

    Unless of course you put pictures on the cakes instead of names?

    M&S used to do an iced jam and buttercream sponge that was fairly plain - it had piping round the top and bottom but no other decoration. I think they still do them but they might be something you have to order.

    Depending on your budget & the size of cakes you are after, you can do all five cakes for around £4.72. Asda Smartprice Raspberry Sponge 46p each, Smartprice Ready to Roll Icing 250g 43p each, & a jar of SP Marmalade to adhere the icing. Hope this helps & good luck!

    i bought some from asda for my wedding they do 3 different sizes plain sponge and fruit. they are not too expensive either think they start at around 4 quid

    my daughters love the Morrisons fresh cream sponges just decorated with your simple mix it with water icing sugar and then decorated however we want.
