My landlord called to our house today (I can't get out due to snow but they have the biggest 4x4 I've ever seen)
Our tenancy agreement runs out on the 17/01/10. and the landlond got a letter from the OR yesterday telling them that I was BR
She knows we want to stay as we discussed it early Decemeber, so she just brought me a 12 month agreement, to put my mind at ease.
so people out there worrying about renting, don't there are nice understanding people out there

My landlord is great too - he knows everything and still let us rent from him. I would love to know if someone has been evicted purely because they're bankrupt. Once you've proven you're good tennants I don't see a problem. Good news for you curly

Hi Curly4
How long did it take before they o/r wrote to your landlord? We went bankrupt yesterday and I really want to get in first with the landlords to soften the blow. They are lovely people and i'm sure it will be ok but still really worrying about it. I suppose i'm just worrying that I have a few days to pluck up the courage. Or are they likely to get a letter tomorrow?

It's just a standard letter that is sent out asking for a copy of the tenancy agreement because some types of tenancy create a liability for the Trustee in Bankruptcy (usually the OR). Some offices always send out the letter but some only send it if there's any doubt about the type of the agreement. So it's not that they write to the Landlord just to inform them of the bankrupcty.0
