  • I would recommend TomTom as well as an application. very easy to use and clear mapping on the PDA. However on my 2210 ipaq sometimes it takes me 5-10 goes for any software updates on Tomtom. I keep getting 'cannot link to device' messages. It eventually goes on however.

Yeah TomTom all the way, Ive tried a few differnt types and always return to tom tom all the extra bits available for it and simplicity make it easy to use even my sister can use it and she is useless.

best and cheapest way, acquire the software then buy a BT gps receiver on ebay holux GPSlim 236 are excelent but there is a cheaper alternative Holox BT321 are good aswell the quality in the casing is alot better on the Holux device but it is about twice the price. Ive bought 2 holux and 2 Holox in the past for myself and other people.

I bought a GPS from hong kong. Be aware though I have heard of some cases of seconds being sold, but my Compact Flash GPS I got a while back works perfectly :)

I use TomTom, it's good, however one thing to bear in mind, is that they only let you upgrade you pda once every 6 month's I was annoyed with them as I bought a new PDA a few months later, and had to wait another few months before I could get rid of my older pda. Next time I'm in the market for a Sat Nav program TomTom probably won't be getting my money.
Another thing to bear in mind is the speed of the map updates, it is reasonably frustrating driving along a road and have john cleese ask you, to turn around as the map thinks your in a field!

Hmm probably that makes one up for users of illegitimate hacked versions of tomtom who can put it on any PDA whenever they like. Seems a poor attitude from tomtom not to let you use something you have in fact *paid* for. I wonder what happens if your PDA resets itself and you *need* to install tomtom again...

That's not a problem, as some the software knowa it's the same pda, however the activation code changes when you change machine :-(. And yes it is pretty poor for legit users. Especially when you think if you can get hold of a dodgy copy, it's not going to be hard to change PDA's is it?!
