Drinking and eating in dublin

I'm heaidng down with a few mates to dublin this weekend (£10 translink day return offer!), and know it can be very expensive. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where to go to (cheaply)eat and or drink.
I went to temple bar area last time and it was £7 a pint!

Stay away from Temple Bar,
Lots of McDonal type places in O'connel Street.
Drink water-:rotfl::rotfl:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I would recommend the Bull and Castle, Christchurch for somewhere to drink. Not as hectic as the Porterhouse (which is also good).
But, as for prices, still pretty dear, I'm afraid....0 -
Usually areas around universities will be slightly cheaper for drink, and check this out:
