Six months to the big day.
How much do you allow for presents, my eldest thinks i'm stingy at 20 pound each.
Do you reckon this is reasonable, after all i haven't got credit facilities anymore to spend hundreds on them.

bloody hell! i am in total denial about xmas this year!!! besides it's my bday in three months. my (selfish) brain can't think further than that!
my mum imposed a limit of £30 that my sis and i can spend on each other and her, though she doesn't have a limit on us, despite us insisting too! can't say we always stick to it strictly, but it's the vague aim!0 -
All depends on ages I guess as to how much you should spend?Maybe it's more a peer pressure thing as to spend x amount.
I've already got a large box which I've been filling up with little presents for people, so when it comes round to december, I'd literally only have a few little top up items to buy people. I'm doing themed hampers for people this year and I'm going to make quite a bit for going in them but I guess that'd be different for your own kids.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
I've been saving since Feb!!! I'm limiting myself to £270 .. and any left over get's spent on me in the sales, so the less the better! I normally go overboard at Xmas (about £60 each the bf £100 plus) as I like to get suitable pressies not pointless ones!
Max I buy for 10 so that's £27 each this year.. but I really want it to be £10 and a lil extra spend on the bf! Not sure I can't stick to it, but I'm gonna try!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

I am aiming for about £100 for everyone which includes mum, dad and sis and a few special friends. And then another £100 for parties, New Year and work's parties etc.
Wow... 6 months to go... you can never start planning too early!!!
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
I "grade" cost per present, from £20 to close relative/friend to £5 distant. Normally save £50 a month for it, so have £600 for Xmas, but have loads of people to buy for (40+ at last count and 2 babies due to arrive too!)
This year, have been buying items in sales as I see something and putting away (for birthdays and Xmas). Most have cost under 50% of what I normally budget and spend, and I keep a book of what I've bought for whom.
I do buy big presents for DS birthday and Xmas - one off big items and spend up to £100.
Also will be using some of my Nectar points for pressies of chocs and biscuits and some for Xmas food.
And this year, I'm gathering up all the odd Xmas cards that were left over from the multi-packs and shouldn't need to spend much on additional ones (except named family ones).
Has taken some organising, but I'm getting there. It's not too late to start either - Bank Hols sales have been good so far and I bet the August one will be too.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
thats a hard one
i have bought loads of things in sales but always look at is as if i paid the full price to try and keep things fair
i have 6 sons 2 daughter in laws and 3 granddaughters so xmas is always expensive in my house

I usually aim for around £20 and then give mum and dad something extra as well as a joint gift. This year is the first year I've actually thought about Christmas so far in advance - have just bought some lovely jewellery for my sister in law in accessorize's sale...everything 50% off, so a necklace that I know she will love onl cost me £3.50! Am also planning to buy summery things in the sale for my other brother and sister who live down under, as by the time Christmas rolls around they'll be sporting shorts and tans!Proud to be dealing with my debts!0
