Name spelt wrongly on mortgage offer

My OH & I have just received our joint mortgage offer from HSBC. Now, my first name is legally spelt Martin, but I normally and informally spell it Martyn. I must have filled in the mortgage application as Martyn in error as that's how it appears on the offer letter. My solicitor has now pointed it out and says she has to inform the bank. The ID that I gave to the bank showed my name as Martin but they did not comment on the difference at all.

I understand that I've made a mistake and I should have put it correctly on the application - is this likely to cause a problem with our mortgage offer now from the bank?

If I were you, I'd get it corrected just in case in future it may cause problems with ID. I had this with my mortgage they changed it pretty quickly over the phone.

Thanks. Yes, I will do that as it obviously needs to be legal. I was just surprised that the bank didn't mention it when they checked my ID.
