Has anyone else had any problems updating this to their iPod?
I'm trying to load up the German pack, but it's stopped at least a dozen times during the update, saying that "the disk cannot be read from or written to".

And how useful are the phrases? What, for instance, does "Where has your Ballack gone" mean? :undecided Can anyone translate into English?

I just followed the instructions and everything worked fine. I've had a good look through both language packs (there are loads of phrases in both) and there is some useful stuff. You can try and learn a bit of the lingo before you go abroad but once your over there it's amazing how much you forget, so these packs are ideal really.

    Hi Majestyk,

Thanks for posting. Must have been a one-off problem then. I did get it loaded and working eventually - after a dozen "stop-starts".

May I ask - did you load both language packs onto a single iPod?
I'm just wondering if having both French and German packs on the one Notes folder will confuse the iPod? Does it work OK with both installed?

EDIT - just found out that if you have the language pack installed and have music files too on your iPod when you use the 'Shuffle' function, you will get random German words interspersed with your music!! Tee-hee.
  • This doesn't seem to be linking through right. I get directed to a webpage where I can download files to my phone via text for a £3 charge. Something going wrong?

Seems this freebie isn't anymore. You must make a purchase from Lastminute.com before being given a link for a free download.

"Where has your ballack gone" should really be "where's your Ballack gone" sung to the tune of "Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep"

It is to taunt the Germans whilst playing football against them and their Star Player, Michael Ballack, has been sent off (old) or retired (current)

Not particularly useful, but just what some people need to firm up anglo-deutsch relationships......:rotfl:And there is a double entendre in there too. Just brilliant.
