Broker question

Hi,

We've just had an offer on a house accepted and need to arrange a mortgage.

A friend recommended a broker to do this:-

Is this a good idea? Are they reputable?

Or is it best to get a best deal from the internet search enginges direct from the bank/building society?

Chances are that no-one on the board has heard of them as most IFAs are small local firms with 1-5 IFAs in house. Indeed, IFAs are still generally considered to be a cottage industry.

IFAs have the lowest complaint stats of all the distribution channels. So, statistically, you are unlikely to have a problem.

If you go on independent basis rather than whole of market, the IFA would include all mortgages that you can get direct as well as through them.
