Hi,
I had a look on the BBC News site seems to indicate that the Government scheme is only for England, and there is no information on the Energy Saving Trust site either - however I would be very interested in any scheme that does come to NI.
Did you get your cavity wall insulation installed Old Git? Do you notice a difference?Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
Mortgage starting balance at Sept 09 - £127,224 on 30 year term. Currently balance approx £116,945 (Updated Jan '12)
Estimated MFD - [STRIKE]Sept 2039[/STRIKE], April 2031 (in progress!)0 -
yes I did get the cavity wall insulation and the loft insulation .
As we now have the coldest winter for 30 years ,its hard to see a difference ,but I am glad its done .
edit
found this on the energy saving trust site
Why isn't this scheme running in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?
The devolution of power to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland means that their assemblies and governments will take decisions on whether they want similar schemes.
so it s up to Pete & Gerry and the folks on the hill ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
Yes, according to Daily Politic @ lunchtime - England only - obviously a vote catcher.
As for the "folks on hill" - don't hold your breath! They can probably
claim something legit on MP's expenses and use it to cover their domestic expenses. Do they care about their electorate? I think not.0 -
I spoke to the Energy Saving Trust for NI this morning and they told me there are currently no grants or schemes available to help people in NI replace their boilers. There will be grants available in April, but the person I spoke to wasn't able to tell me what they would be for. (Even if there are grants for boilers available in April, what sort of stupid system arranges for help for people who need to replace boilers at the beginning of the warmer months, but leaves those whose heating is dead in the middle of winter with no help at all?)
Having said the above re availability of funding - EST did also give me other information which turned out to be incorrect (when I checked with Building Control) - though they did say they weren't very sure about that aspect.0 -
Just a thought... but I would imagine that the Energy companies (EON, Scottish Power or British Gas) in England are linked in with this Renewal scheme (Bit like the Car Scrapage Scheme)... would be in their interest as majority of heating systems in English towns & cities are Gas. As the majority of Heating systems in N.Ireland are Oil Burners and everyone chops and changes supplier... I can't see any of the oil supplying companies supporting it.. Just my thoughts!! so will it be available in N. Ireland.... Lets see how the finances are by May or June!!0
