Hi, has anyone else looked at any of the Ramada Jarvis hotels for their ceremony? http://www.ramadajarvis.co.uk/uk_hotels/UKHotels.aspx
They have details of their package priced at around £350 per day exclusive of the service, we're going to use our own place for the reception as it will keep the cost down but we aren't sure if we'd be able to use the local church as we haven't been here very long, also we haven't looked at prices yet to compare.
Anyway I just wanted to know how are they for negotiating with? Do they have a breakdown of what the £350 is, I'd rather not pay for the whole day room hire when we'll only be there for a short while, althogh you do get some rooms included, I think

We looked at the Ramada here, as its very popular as one of the few decent places around. They were VERY esay to negotiate with, we got room hire knocked off straight away with very little haggling! A lot depends on when you want to get married and how much you are planning to spend on grub! However choose some where else, however not because there was anything wrong just like somewhere else better!

We're in quite an upmarket area so there will be more than enough decent places but completely out of our budget! I was thinking the Ramada as all our family and friends will have to stay over. I've got it down to 3 venues that we're going to look at which should be in our budget this being one of them. Thanks for your help

Lexxi - if you want to get married in your local church its worth speaking to them even if you haven't lived in the area for very long. My brother recently married in a CoE Church in Devon, and we have no family or connection to the area. All the church asked was that they attend the church at least once a month for six months prior to the date of the wedding.
I think a lot of churches are open to helping you have your wedding in a church.

We move next week so I'm going to give the church a call once we're there, if I can be that patient!
Thanks for the information, I didn't think we had much chance of the church so it's really good to know that.

Couldn't manage patience! I phoned all 3 venues, the one I thought of first seemed incredibly put out that I was just going to have the ceromony there, the ramada were really nice and gave me the info and details I needed and said they would get their wedding planner to call me to discuss coming and looking at their rooms. The church, said yes and booked me in!!
It's a lot more than what I was expecting but the other prices I got were just for room hire nothing else so it would probably have worked out about the same anyway, it also means we will save on cars as everyone can walk from the church to the reception.
Thanks kildare, your post gave me way more confidence when I phoned up.

Will speak to the lovely people at Ramada about bulk room bookings and forget the other place was ever even an option

If you are going to book a lot of rooms for your guest to stay (or rather your guest will book the rooms), get them to quote you a decent price. Our venue has 21 rooms, I have provisionally booked 10 and explained that more may be booked, so they have a 'wedding rate' to my guests of £100 B&B per room, instead of their normal rate of £150 room only! I would also haggle the room hire price if you are booking quite a few hotel rooms as they will see that to knock a bit off the room hire will be more than covered by your guests drinking at the bar and staying overnight!
