Hi i have a ccj against me from a water company and i have not met original payments as arranged as i could not afford them after losing hours at work and today i have recieved a letter today informing me that the claim against me has been transfered to my local county court for enforcement.

What does this mean???

Am i going to get bailiffs round my house or will i get a attachment of earnings???

I really do not want bailiffs round my house taking stuff i just want to pay this stupid debt off any help please.

I would check with someone who knows about CCJs,

But i believe this is just to inform you that it has been moved from the bulk processing centre to your local county court. From there you can attend the hearing to defend your side, if you acknowledge the amount is correct you should fill in an attachment of earnings to show how much you can currently afford and all goign well monthly payments for the CCJ will be based on that. If you do not attend , you lose by default and you will be asked to pay in full probably by a visit from bailiffs. So long as you defend and do not break the CCJ you should not see bailiffs.

Bailiffs prefer money rather than goods, so even if they came they would want payment in cash but would add their fees too, so do try and avoid bailiffs.

if the ccj has been already given, its gone past the stage. It will be been passed to the court baliffs in your local court for enforcement. Their will already be warrant of execution charges added by now.
  • Hi thanks for the reply

i do want to pay so would have no issues with a attachment of earnings i only got behind on the ccj because i lost hours so i would rather fill in a attachment of earnings order and then let them decide and sensible amount to pay.

Anyone else know much about ccj's ??

If it goes to the bailiff, yes.

You really need to ring someone like NDL and try and get advice so you can arrange some sort of variation in the money payment, befor ehte bailiffs are instructed.

Will the bailiffs want full payment or would they take a payment plan?? also would the bailiffs be an external company like rundell and co or would they be specialist court bailiffs
