Hello

Can anyone tell me if you can get a Yellow Fever Vaccination at your GP or if there are travel clinics in Belfast. And also, does anyone have idea of cost and will it be the same wherever I go?

Thanks.

I got mine free at a clinic in 2007 on Castle Street, Belfast, but I think they charge now as people were flying in from Mainland UK to get their free vaccination and make a weekend off it. I think you have to got to your GP now, no idea of cost. Sorry

Your GP surgery should be able to tell you about local clinics or you can check the NathNac homepage under "Yellow Fever Centres". The cost varies but the vaccine itself costs £50 as it is not covered by the NHS - some places also charge an admin fee.

Don't think you can get it free any more.

For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

We had ours done a few months ago at Ormeau surgery. Our doctor gave us a referral letter and we rang up to make an appointment with the nurse who conducts the travel vaccination clinic. It cost £60 each including a £10 admin fee as we are not registered at that practice. Our Doc said that it was about the cheapest in the area but I have to admit that I didn't price around to compare.
  • I got mine in May last year, was able to get an appointment in the travel clinic in the Queens university clinic just off Malone. I'm not a student but they took 'regular' people. It was £60 with no additional charges. I did look around regarding this and this seemed to be the normal charge.
It does last 10 years though

  • I got the YF vaccine today at a surgery in the Kennedy Centre, Falls Road. ( in the same centre as the new Sainsbury store ) They are really efficient and charge £55 for the vaccine .FYI:j

    hi chali,

before you get a vaccine i recommend finding out exactly what it is that you are getting injected into yourself. I wish i had of done so before i got a hep b vaccine.i now have the skin disorder vitiligo from recieving this vaccine.

    Check out
    novaccine.com
or vaclib.org sorry unable to post exact link

not trying to preach to people.all im saying is, educate yourself and make an informed decision.id recommend anyone to spend half an hour (on internet) investigating vaccines and how harmful they are before getting injected.i personally will never get another vaccine.

i hope this is of help to you
  • Yellow Fever vaccine is available at Kerrsland Surgery, the total cost is £55
