Another one of those American frugal books I'm afraid (I love them:p )
Dining on a Dime by Tawra Kellam and Jill Cooper
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0974255211/203-2458868-6430337?v=glance&n=266239
This is a book not just of recipes but also ideas for hm gifts, beauty treatments and cleaning products.
There are also tips on freezing ,meal planning ,pantry lists, organisation, using leftovers and shopping.
The recipes are not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination and some of them are less than healthy. But all are straightforward and use everyday ingredients.
Here's an example of a gift idea from the book for a young child.
Fill a toy bucket with home made (recipes in the book);slime, dyed pasta, bath crayons, playground chalk, finger paints, bubbles and strawberry leather(a kind of fruit chew),add a colouring book and some crayons.
If you don't mind Americanisms and don't mind spending more money:rotfl: this is a great addition to the frugal bookshelf.
Btw this book is an expanded edition of Not Just Beans
