How can I degrease a lamb stew?

Just made a lamb stew with leftover shoulder of lamb,from yesterday,s lunch.
I put the bones in ,and all meat ,cutting off as much fat as I could see,but my husband refused to eat it as it was too greasy.
i quite enjoyed it myself,but I would like to know if I can get the grease out at all?

The best way that I've found is to let it go cold and then remove the fat from the top, either by using a large spoon and trying to 'spoon it off' or by chilling it and then cutting the solid fat off.
I have, in emergency, lain pieces of kitchen roll on the top and tried soaking the fat off, trying NOT to take too many of the meat juices with it - but it can take ages depending on how much fat/grease there is to remove.0 -
I would say the same, allow to go cold if you can it and then put it out for the birds to eat,if you can't wait or have no kitchen paper then a slice of dry bread will work too if you carefully blot it over the top, this can also be fed to the frozen birdies if you want.0

I second the idea to let it go cold and then take off the solid fat, but if you want it soon, the dry bread idea works a treat.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

yep, cold is best - if you can't wait that long, skim off the top, not worrying if you get some of the juices. put in shallow dish - this will cool much quicker than the whole stew and you should get a lot of the fat out easily0

i read in a book to drop in icecubes and the fat sticks to the icecube, and can be lifted out. i haven't ever tried it but the idea is good.nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.

I did the ice cube trick yesterday with a pork shank in the SC. There was lots of fat in the juices so I chucked in a handful of ice cubes and lots of the fat solidified on to it. Spooned the rest out.0
