Help! Should we pre-cook the sausage meat?

DS and I are making maultaschen (stuffed noodles) for lunch! Recipe is translated from German. Not clear if sausagemeat should be pre-cooked - I rather thought not as final reult is simmered for 15 minutes - but recipe is ambiguous. Anyone any ideas???

if i was unsure, id half-cook the meat first, try both ways and see if you get stomach ache!

Thanks for the replies folks! We decided not to pre-cook as filling was in very small amounts. tasted OK, but several learning points: home-made pasta needs to be thinner than you'd ever imagine and it helps to cook the ravioli like parcels in small batches so they don't stick together! Never mind, it was for family so we laughed about it all!
