    I've got like that too.
I think it's a combination of living alone most of the time instead of having to cook for the family plus the fact that I HATE my cooker, it was in the house is a fan oven with the grill integrated and I find it overcooks food and makes it dry.
I too have no idea what I'm going to have for the evening meal and I have company so I think i'd better check that recipe thread too.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Whenever I loose the will to cook I just go back to simple almost comfort food recipes and just try and build again from there.

I used to hate coming home each night from work feeling tired and thinking I'd got to cook something to eat so ended up just having pizza's from asda, but I just tried making a simple pasta dish and it tasted so much nicer and then just kept going from there.

I'm now back to loving cooking (although I think I'll have another down about at some point) and love trying to do something different from a recipe then seeing if I can improve on it.

Not exactly a money-saving device, but here goes...

My partner and I recently started ordering an organic veggy box as a way of adding a bit of fun (and goodness) into our cooking - and it's worked wonders! We really look forward to getting our box, and then the challenge is on to make something out of what's in front of us.

Result? We're eating much more varied, healthy food that also tastes delish! We've been really inspired, so maybe it's worth giving it a try?

Two Words Triker - MENU PLAN..... Boring but it helps.

I can manage to sit down and go through the cupboards, and freezer make a list of what I COULD cook, then knock up a week or two week menu plan. All I have to do (apart from take stuff out of the freezer if necessary) is look at it and somehow it is just easier to get motivated to make "Turkey Mince Chilli and White Rice" when you've know all day that was what you are having for dinner!

I totally sympathise....I have even been known to utter those same words "Lost the will to cook" to my DH. Everytime I get jaded I start it up again, it's also very frugal because you use up all the stuff at the bottom of the freezer :) I also keep the old menu plans to help with the new ones, and even have a very basic two week, no brainer, with all the usuals or vague stuff like pasta, soup and bread, omelettes..... We also have a one night a week, which is "on toast" night where everybody (apart from DH) sorts out thier own toast based dinner, cheese, sardines, eggs, beans.

    Regards

I feel like this as well. In all fairness Im losing the will to eat at the moment as Im not so well. So the idea of a ready meal doesnt appeal either, it does just depress me to eat some manky frozen pizza when I know I could make a better one myself, but i dont. I can go for hours, days without eating. Today Ive had a handful of ritz crackers and quarter a box of milk tray. :o

I like the idea of cooking, but i cant be bothered to do anything. The less I want to do it, the poorer my offerings. I had a spate last week or burning everything or producing raw chicken thighs and ive just given up really. Although we have a really tight budget so I have no choice but to be OS.

Maybe time to dig out the slow cooker recipes and bang it all in so I dont have to do anything.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Thanks for all your lovely suggestions and messages........very inspiring and yes I will menu plan though not today. As I said earlier I had thought we would have jacket spuds and something. Unfortunately I worked quite late and so we are now having oven chips (which I count as a Money Saving success as we were going to go the chippy), sausage, egg and beans. Inspired nope, but it's going to be on the table in around 20 minutes. So Nigella I aint but hey what the hoo!I'm glad I'm not alone and I kind of guessed I wouldn't be but I love my food and as I said in my earlier post I feel that I'm not being creative, nurturing or bothered anymore and frankly it's doing my head in.Onwards and upwards as they say, tomorrow is another day.Lynzpower, I totally get what you mean about having a disastrous week cooking, every a fried breakfast went belly up with my lovely family eating cold eggs and burnt sausages, bless them. How can I muck up something so simple. Anyway gotta go, my tea's ready.......lol.

    What familiar refrains...

For me, it started when we moved into a new house in which the kitchen is small. I'd always had social space kitchens, where the family could be around me whilst I cooked. Now, the kitchen feels like a prison - and I just don't really like going in there for too long.
