is it annoying if your wife/husband goes shopping without the nectar/clubcard ?

just a little vent really , but in my household my wife is the breadwinner i stay at home with the kids , its down to me for all the shopping etc and like many of you i collect nectar points , clubcard points and quidco on the net , every penny i save helps towards holidays/christmas/birthdays/cost of living , now i am pretty proud in my own head of how many nectar points i have managed to scrimp away (17.50) but when we went and done our xmas shop i had some nectar tokens that would double our points , also some bonus points etc but before i could get them out of my wallet she'd already put her card in and paid
also she went shopping in sainsbury last week while she was off and didnt bother to collect the points
its not a serious gripe but it is annoying , i mean i will happily spend my dough on beer or fags , is the nectar thing really worth it i ask myself?
my favourite food is spare ribs

  • Haha, i liked your little rant dont worry!
Personally, i think Nectar points are a massive let down! Ive been collecting them for yrs and they pretty much add up to nothing for me! I quite often get petrol on them, and i spend maybe £20 a week in sainsburys and over this time have prob only made about £15 back maximum. Plus, sainsburys isnt the cheapest supermarket as we know, so i dont really think youre getting ANYTHING back compared to the extra margin you spend.
Quidco, and ipoints are where the real point system works, plus my boots card is what i always am clinging on to. Ive made about £60 in Odeon vouchers on ipoints within the last year.
Obviously if your wife doesnt do the shopping then she wouldnt understand your tallying up of the points. Give her akey fob on her keys maybe??
Good luck with your points collecting.

Just keep the reciepts and they'll usually add the points for you at customer service.

my hubby gets his petrol from sainsburys and never gets the receipt so i can get the points put on (he lost his nectar card so I got him a key fob and he lost that too!)-I get annoyed about it too as I save my points for xmas and generally use them in argos however.....

I discovered this week at the petrol station where I get my electric topped up from,(texaco garage),they do Star rewards - you get a star per £1 spend and each star is worth 1p so 500 stars= £5 - the stars can be converted to argos vouchers (amongst other things) and the petrol is always price matched to sainsburys - so bearing in mind that 500 points only = £2.50 at sainsbursy, I am now going to stop getting my petrol there and get it at the garage when I get my electric instead as I will be getting twice as much for the same amount of spend (have also told hubby to do it and get his own card and just leave it in the car, hopefully he won't lose it!)

my df gets in BIG trouble if he forgets the loyalty card, why should i bother going to all the effort to get extra points etc so WE can have little treats if he is not going to. He knows better than for me to catch him not foing his bit :)
  • I gave my OH a Clubcard Plus and put our grocery money on that... it's impossible for her NOT to get points ;)
