I think i may start checking my statements then, i never thought they would make mistakes before!
You are joking me right..... No wonder you are in the state you are. I suggest you get your Mum onto this site. She is spending £100plus on a pair of crappy boots because they have a name on them yet needs to put 2 xboxes on catalogues.
The best thing you can do is take the Uggs back and the Xbox and get the money, you will be able to pay 1 almost 2 debts off straight away.
Oh and don't be so bloody ungrateful about you didn't like your Christmas present, you were bloody lucky to get one.0 -
TotallyBroke:Got you now, thanks
As for my mobile, that is me getting a better deal. I had a blackberry, which was costing me £35 a month, and i only got 200 txts, so i always went over that making my bill at least £60 a month...which is why i now have a debt with them i'm trying to pay off.
My new phone is with virgin, 500mins and unlimited texts and internet for £18 a month. I've just put £20 down to be on the safe side. Last month my bill was £19, this month it was £17 odds.
No i don't generally keep my payslips either, or P60's. I have a few kicking about my room somwhere, but everytime i have a clear out i tend to just throw them out.0 -

My mum is a member on this site. And the xbox's only went on the catalogue because it was last minute, they only arrives on christmas eve. she had already got me and my brother all our pressents, but they were a little extra.
As for the boots, she got me the wrong ones before. Well technically they were for her, but i got them. they are not real ugg boots, so thats why shes taken them back, as i won't wear them. So i'm getting real ones for my birthday.
Also the Xbox's are on a but now pay Feb 2011 deal, so there is no min monthly payment, and no intrest being added until then. So buy paying £50 a month to them, she will have them paid off before the intrest free period is up0 -

Well then that is not too bad, you maybe lucky and when it comes to upgrade time you may get money off for not taking the upgrade. That's what I have done because I'm not fussed about the phone

Please, please start because again if your tax is calculated incorrectly you can't do anything about it. It is against the law to throw away a P60littlepinkstars44 wrote: »My mum is a member on this site. Sorry I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. It just came across that you were a little ungrateful and being very materialistic. It's behaviour like that which will cause you never to get out of debt. You have to change your mindset and save for the latest trends.0 -
I don't pay any tax, which is prob why i'm not too bothered about payslips and P60's. To be honest i never really pick up my payslips. I usually get handed a pile of 3/4 at a time.0

Well get into the habit now before you reach your 30s and find yourself in a real state. It maybe boring to count the pennies now but believe me the old saying is true "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" Plus in 20 years time when you will have all the spare cash in the world to be buying Prada etc whenever you want you'll be able to laugh at your mates when they could only afford New Look.
I really wish I had done so. One good piece of advice I was given and actually did for a while (even managed to buy a car with the money. Should've kept it up really) was split your wages into 3. 1st part for living costs, 2nd part for savings and 3rd part for enjoying yourself. But you have to aportion the money in that order. So if your living costs are a bit more than a 3rd you lose it off your enjoying yourself costs.0 -

Thanks, don't think i'll even start to think about savings though, until i am much older n have a proper job and a house and that stuff.0 -
You don't need ugg bootsx2, makeup, clothes, xbox games, taxi's bottled water etc etc etc.
If you want to get out of debt, stop spending on luxuries you can't afford, ask for cash for birthdays, and use it to pay off debt, and start organizing your finances properly, it isn't going to cure itself, you have to work at it, and think about everything you spend.0 -
Hi LittlePinkStars - love the username by the way.
Uni is hard work and costs a fair bit (as you know) - pretty much everyone ends up in debt and if you only owe as much as you say you do - then you're not doing too bad.
Yes your debt appears to be going up but while you are at uni you need to make sure you focus on getting the best degree you can and if you can do a few hours for a bit of extra cash then that's great but obviously you need the degree.
I'm not sure how long you have left on your degree but when you have finished then I'm sure you can start to really make inroads into those debts - just try and keep them as low as possible while at uni.
Onwards and upwards into 2010.
Best of Luck
