Murder Mystery dinner

Hi, I am planning on organising a murder mystery at home, over dinner/ drinks. I have seen many sets to order online. But, this is just the problem: there are too many of them out there.
Would anyone have any recommendation? Have you organised one of those or taken part to one? Which one was it and have you got any tips at all?
I'd love to hear from anyone with a recommendation and be grateful of any advice of opinion.
If anyone knew where to get one of those for free, that would be brillant!

Hi, I organised a murder mystery party for 14 people last year, it was fantastic fun but an awful lot of work.. well worth it thou, I ordered http://www.creativeparties.co.uk/game_details.php?game_ID=9&subMenu=0&game_title=Murder+At+Cactus+Creek+Saloon from Creative parties, it was very easy to do, and then you just have to print off all the information ie. invitations, party planners all the guest information - good luck and i hope you enjoy it
if you are looking for a murder mystery game, that is free try asking on Freecycle.org, i managed to get a boxed set there also0 -
My mum does these with family friends. every couple of months they take turns to play host.
Check out your local charity shops for the games. Make sure everything is there, but dont forget that you can photocopy/print your own invites if some have been used."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0 -
Thank for the info and the ideas you've given me. I am going to try Freecyle and trawl around Charity shops.
I've had a look at the website you suggested, bubblybaby, there's really everything one could think of. I like the fact that it is taylored to the number of guest and how many of whch gender there are.0 -

I've hosted one of these which was Wild West Frontier themed. I got a set off eBay for a couple of quid, which came with all the instructions and menu / fancy dress suggestions. It depends really on how many people you want to invite, and how "into" it they want to be (some parts are easier to dress up for than others - wild west was pretty easy - although I did have to cross-dress as a mexican bandito because we were short of men
) They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Ebay. Yep. That is a good idea too. Thank you all for your advice. I'm looking forward to organising it. Even looking forward to cross dressing forthe night!
