Help with writing a letter, RE: excessive DCA charges

Hi there,

I'm writing a letter to one of the DCA dealing with one of my debts.
The original debt was for around £700/800 due to overpayment by ex-employer.

The debt shot up to £1500 even though I recieved no previous letters/warnings due to moving a few times.

I've looked at my credit report and it looks like I got a CCJ from this debt (but I cant be sure as I have no information)

I find £800 fees very very excessive, considering they only caught up with me at my last address for around 3 months before I started paying and I'm writing to ask them for a breakdown of these charges, but I'm struggling to word it correctly.
Any ideas?

Firstly. establish whether it was a CCJ. If it was, I believe that you can apply to have the judgement set aside on grounds of not being notified of the court case, but you need to check this out and you need to be squeaky clean about never having had the money requested, nor being notified about the court case..

Personally, I would set about overturning the CCJ and then offer to pay the original amount outstanding, if the claim is valid.

  • Thank you,
How will I go about doing this?

Because I have another CCJ with the same circumstances though I don't even know what that one is for! :(
