I have adjusted my SOA as per your advise
Thanks and night night

I will be online tomorrow
I am going to start a spending diary0 -
You will find the spending diary very useful as it really makes you question what you are spending. Avoid buying lunches at work and takeways in the evening/weekends. Limit the number of bottles of Pinot Grigio you are buying and it all helps!
You could also have a loose change pot, where you empty your purse of all your silver and coppers every few days. Change it at the bank every once in a while and use it as a treat for going out - top tip - make sure you aren't requesting cash back from shops in silver and coppers instead of notes.
Have you had anymore thoughts about getting someone to share the house with you and therefore share rent/bills?0 -

These are all great ideas esp the wine!!!!
I am living on cash back at the moment but keeping a dairy might help Ihopihope
I am not poopooing the idea of sharing my home Its truly not big enough here Although I have two bedrooms I use one as an office and often work late into the night (I am a research scientist) I know everyone has said I ought to move to a less expensive place Maybe the OR will force this?? Have you any idea??
Thanks for taking the time out of your life to reply
All the comments have been invaluable
I am humbled

Sorry I don't have any personal experience of bankrupcy - just trying to think of realistic options that you could take to avoid it!!!!!
I know what you mean about working til late into the night on a computer - I am a teacher. Is there room in your bedroom or elsewhere in the house to rig up the computer - even if for 6 months? Getting someone to house share with you will have a big financial impact.0 -
You know, it is fashionable to be frugal! You could be a new fashion icon for 2010.
I think that if you go down the route of paying your debts back it will make you more financially responsible and perhaps astute - whereas in the past having your parents help you out has not encouraged financial responsibility.0 -

TBH I am praying I will be allowed Br It is a drastic step but may well help me draw a line under my out-of-control spending.
Until @ a year ago I had a partner for 4 years My work came between us and we split Don't know if I am ready to share my space again even outside of a relationship
I feel I have a huge weight on my shoulders with all the debt Its making everything in my life difficult esp the work
I am phoning CAB tomorrow try and get an appt ASAP see what they say
as I say thanks for your kindness

TBH, I think that you may be considering that bankrupcy is the easiest option - it won't be! Yes, repaying the debt is going to take quite a period of time and yes it may be stressful as well but it can be done with your income. Bankrupcy will also be stressful!
I do think that once you go down the route of trying to control your shopping urges and throwing all your spare cash at repayment, you will feel a sense of pride that you are dealing with this yourself. You have already made positive steps towards this!!!!
Where do you do your food shopping? Aldi or Lidl nearby?0 -
GTG to bed now as am teaching in the morning - just came on here to unwind a bit after finishing my marking and planning; the joys!
Am praying for lots of snow to arrive overnight - fingers crossed! Will check in on you tomorrow night after I have finished marking and planning.
