Vegetable Water...........and GUILT

Options
Evening All

Ooohh can some kind soul either offer me a few new ideas of what to do with this or give me permission to (sometimes) do nothing with it?

I always keep the water when straining veg or potatoes, and I do use it in my breadmaker (bread seems to rise even more when I do and it makes a lovely soft loaf). I also use it for mixing with dried milk for making savoury scones, and for the basis of stock, or casseroles, or in the slow cooker......but just sometimes when I find myself with 3 containers of it in the fridge and we don't need any bread, or scones, or casseroles, or stock or ANYTHING to so with vegetable water I just can't bring myself to throw all those vitamins away. The freezer is usually full or I would stick it in there.

Honest to goodness you wouldn't believe how I agonise over this? ....must be very sad person!

Give me your guilt then, am old enough and shoulders big enough to take it!
If you can't use it, chuck it..........if you have a garden, when cooled, am sure plants will appreciate it, or your grass if nothing else. If not, if you have any potted plants, use the cooled water - otherwise, down the drain.

Can't think of anything else at the moment other than you are already doing, but am sure other bright ideas will come up.

I'll use the plants idea. I've been wondering how to give my tomato plants an organic boost.

Another suggestion is to use less water when cooking veg - or steam them. That way the vitamins stay in the veg.

But I cooked a load of beetroot recently (for chocolate beetroot muffins) and used the water in a red lentil soup. Gave it a lovely colour and a really sweet taste.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Do you have a dog? I was just wondering once cooled, would it be ok to give to them. I throw mine on the grass or pot plants when I don't need it. Better than down the sink. That's all I can think of. HTH.

PS. Maybe you can mix some whiskey with it. :D All those extra vitamins should be good for you. ;)
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
