CreditExpert Credit Report query - no bank account, no CC and no loan?!?

Hi everybody

I'm sorry if this is a daft question and I have tried to Google the answer, but not come up with anything.

I was recently rejected for 2 different 0% balance transfer credit cards, which I'd applied for to try to help OH. I have one credit card open with £2,000 limit which is attached to my current account (Lloyds). There is £0.00 balance. My only other debt is one loan (as per my signature below).

I signed up with CreditExpert to have a look at my credit report and I noticed that it did not mention my current bank account and nor was there any mention of my credit card. There is no mention of my loan, but I suppose this is quite normal?

When I look at the 'help' icon next to 'credit accounts' on my CreditExpert report it says that this includes credit cards, bank accounts, store cards, loans and mobile phone contracts. There are 5 entries here and these are ALL old mail order catalogues that have been settled.

Under 'available credit' it says £175 and says this is what I have left after total borrowing has been deducted from total credit limit.

Amount of outstanding debt is reading as £0.

I'm concerned that this could be affecting my credit rating and wondered if somebody could just tell me whether the report is accurate or not - should bank accounts and credit cards and loan details be on this report or am I worrying about nothing?

Isn't that just Experian? I have 2 current accounts and 2 savings accounts with 2 different banks. One is on my Experian and the other account is on my call credit.

Check you other cr and see what's on them too.

You need to get your credit file from all 3 agencies Experian (CreditExpert), Equilifax and CallCredit.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

Thank you everybody. I wasn't aware I needed to get the reports from all 3 agencies. I shall do this and perhaps this will throw up where the problem lies.

    Many thanks for all replies!

OK, well I have now viewed all 3 reports in detail and the other 2 (CallCredit and Equifax) both did list my loan and a few previous credit cards as well as my current credit card.

CallCredit also confirmed I have a credit score of 693 and '5-stars out of 5 stars' for being a good risk for getting credit.

So, I'm still confused as to why I've been turned down - perhaps because they're thinking they can't make any money off me? But at least I know that my other details are available with the other 2 agencies now. Thank you for all of your help everybody.

  • i got turned down a few days ago but my credit report was good had a great score, but i called them - experian to ask why i had been refused he said it was probably because i had high balances which were greater than 75% of the limit - he said banks like it be below 75% also i have credit accounts still open even with zero balances and that could be contributing. hope this helps? xx

    Hi there

    Thanks very much for that.

No, I only have 1 credit card that is open and there is a limit of £2,000 but nothing on it at the moment. All other credit cards are settled and are closed accounts (confirmed). The loan was originally for £3,000 and is now at £1,500 ish.

    Very odd!

Oh well, thanks ever so much for your input x

You need to try to find a 0% card provider that uses equifax rather than experian. There is a thread on the credit card board that is supposed to let you know who uses who currently.
If you apply by phone you could even ask the provider who they use and explain the situation to them.

Another option can be to apply for a card with your own bank account (as they already know your history) - if they do a 0% card that it - check here http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.php

Or could OH get one from his account.

One minor word of warning - I'm sure you are very happy with OH and expect to have a long term future but still do be careful about transfering debts from his name to yours. It might be worth getting something in writing so that if you split up its clear that the money was a loan and he intends to repay it (emails can be useful as they prove a date and time). (not trying to offend anyone but lots of people come on here when they have been left with lots of debts from previous partners)
