Karaoke machine?

Hi everyone. We've found a DJ (Shane Mosley from The Eye radio station! lol Apparently this is a good thing and he's famous :S No idea but the df likes him so I'm not fussed, we've got one! lol) but we did want karaoke too.
Someone has told me you can get a normal karaoke machine (one in curry's for £50?) and wire it up to the amps/speakers, but I'm sure we'd need a proper one, or proper leads or something?
Can anyone tell me if this will work and if these karaoke machines will sound ok wired to the dj's stuff?
Has anyone done this before?
Thank you
