i have done a search and some finding of my own and come up with a list of free streaming tv channels, mainly not uk but some with uk programmes on

http://peekvid.com/ this is/was a good site, it seems to host its videos on youtube and alot have been removed, it didnt used to though and was very good.

http://wwitv.com/portal.htm not really any uk but quite good


http://www.sky.com/skybybroadband/home not really a stream but its good for movies and sports

http://www.download.com/TVU-Player/3000-2194_4-10549204.html tvu player, only got this today but i think it is great it has ABC and some american sports channels and good quality for some - it will play but if you wait till the buffer gets to about 87% and up its ok to watch

some of them(mms://) you will have to open real player or windows media player and file open url
