Whoops. Curry-flavoured marmalade. Help!

We've just opened a jar of last year's home-made marmalade and it tastes slightly of curry. That's because I made more marmalade than anticipated and with a shortage of jars, had to empty some cardamon pods & other spices from glass jars into other containers to free up jars. I did wash them thoroughly but the residual taste is still there. I'm wondering how I can avoid this problem in future. (The marmalade by the way is quite edible but certainly "interesting".)

I soak mine in a reasonably strong milton solution before washing, just to get rid of any residual tastes.

Simple! Just change the label from Marmalade to Curried Orange Chutney. ;)

I wonder if you could use it in place of mango chutney in curries? That would give it a bit more life. Also, I'd be tempted to make a sweet and sour sauce around it, using the marmalade, vinegar and soy sauce. mmm
