I obviously don't have your patience Julie... I have never left it long enough to go "smooth"Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
In addition (I think - apologies if I'm repeating anyone) to things already listed, I always have:
Cous cous
Cornflour
Tortilla wraps and chips
Bisto/gravy browning
Vanilla and almond extracts
ETA: Not OS, but jars of our fave curry and pasta sauces (bought on offer) for those "can't be bothered" days.Just wondering why people are buying caster sugar?
There is a premium for it though it is very easy to make your own. Just put the amount you need in a coffee grinder/ liquidiser/ food processor for about 20 secs and there you have it...
Can't speak for anyone else - but the 2kg bag of caster sugar is actually cheaper than the same amount of granulated (even when comparing by price per kilo to the 5kg bag) in my local.0 -

Hi, and welcome back!
I always have:
Tinned tomatoes, tinned sweetcorn, tinned red kidney beans, all value
Dried chick peas, red lentils
Herbs & spices - red chilli flakes, basil, coriander, cumin, pepper
Value sultanas and sunflower seeds
Plain and SR flour
Caster sugar and demerera sugar
A big tub of Stork in the fridge
I find that if you go to the world foods aisle in your supermarket (Asda are especially good for this) you can get big bags of dried beans, chick peas, chilli flakes etc for a fraction of the price that you'd pay for the same amount in the smaller bags/jars in normal aisles.
Good luck! xMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -

I'd suggest Poundland for sugar. 1.5kg of granulated is only £1, much cheaper than the supermarkets!
It's only a game
