    Thanks :)

    1. The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending
  • Few other things you can do to make it more secure:-

    1. Change the admin password if you haven't already chnaged it from the default.
    2. Disable broadcasting the SSL name.
    3. Restrict access to the router to the specific MAC address of your laptop.
  • If your wireless cannot connect and optain an IP address, it will default to an assigned IP address and give you the message of Limited or no connectivity.

This is usually when you cannot obtain a connection with the wireless router, usually because of the security. Depends on what security is set up on the wireless router. is it WEP, WPA or WPA2.

You will need the appropriate security code to get access. Some routers also have additional security where you have to press a button on the router to allow wireless connections to new pieces of hardware that have not connected to it before (this is on top of the WEP/WPA security) Had this one time with a BT Homehub router.

Awesome :D I did this and it worked. I think somebody else suggested this earlier too, but I didn't get around to trying it before you posted it again aswell. I just started the wireless zero configuration and it found the wireless network, we had to type in the WPA key again and it connected fine. Many thanks everybody, my Mum is currently surfing the net wirelessly!!

Another question, I'm not sure whether to start another thread or not, but I'll ask it here anyway. How do we make sure the internet/wireless connection is secure?

    Many thanks again

    Gwen

Glad it's sorted... I was offline for a while. :)

Exactly, seen this happen with quite a few routers/access points. Anyhow, good to see the OP got it resolved . (I was off-line ;) ).
