Sofa!

Options
Help am looking some advice about a new sofa, where do I go to get one, have a DFS one and am really disappointed in it, only 4 years old and is really uncomfortable! Have DFS sofas improved any ? They are noew saying their sofas have a full 5 year warranty!

Went into Harveys today and saw some really nice ones but then the salesman said they were made in the Far east when asked where exactly he said China!!! So that means I would not buy one of them!!!

Any idea where else in Northern Ireland to look for a good quality sofa ?

Neil

I think your safer heading to a local retailer - I'd recommend Alexanders of Markethill, Montgomery's in Portadown, Moy furniture, and Ardis Living in Gilford. These are kinda local to you so easier got too, I'm sure there will be plenty of advice from others

I've spent months looking for sofa's and to be honest for price and quality I've decided to buy from one of the ones I've mentioned.

We got ours from Argos about 7 years ago or so, and it has been fantastic.
  • I would recommend IKEA furniture, the sofas keep their shape and are still as good as new after lots of use.The ones we have now we have had for 7 years and they are still perfect. They have some more traditional styles as well as modern.
I have had sofas from Sofa Workshop,DFS,Argos etc in the past and find they go really flat and uncomfortable very quickly.

I've bought sofas from Dekko twice and both times have been really pleased with them - they've been comfortable and durable and not too expensive. Very good delivery service too. I can highly recommend them.

McClim, I recently purchased a leather suite for £900 in Glasker Furniture just up the rd for you. I priced the exact same on in LYttles sale at £2200! Seriously, I took all the details, googled the manufacturers, and phoned them and asked about who they supplied etc. (The firm was TCS)

You need to ask about the filling in the sofa etc. Seats can be made from different foams etc and the arms from a more feathery substance. I was nearly caught out like this a few years ago in DFS only the manager told me they were obliged to tell me the sofa could loose its shape depending on use. That put me right off. Also, there was a little mark on my new sofa and a man from some sofa fixing place came out and sorted it out within the week. This is all included. Give it a try, you never know!
2p or not 2p? That is the question!
