Dough hooks on electric whisk

Hi all,
Not sure if this is in the right place or if anyone can help.
I got an electric whisk/beater for Christmas as I've been wanting one so I can make cakes with less effort than creaming things by hand and can whip cream and eggs without standing there for ages until my arm falls off. It came with a set of dough hooks. Does anyone have any experience of using dough hooks to make (unsurprisingly) dough?
TIA
Caroline

Yes - my parents make bread every day using a mixer with a dough hook. Very effective.

msb5262, maybe they use a stand mixer, where the dough hook has a plate on the top? I've always found dough hooks on a hand-held mixer pretty useless, as the dough keeps creeping up the hooks...0

I used to use the dough hooks on my hand held mixer for making cookies, rgey were much better than the beaters0

Ive also used them for making biscuits and found them better than the beaters!0

I use the dough hooks on my hand-held for breadmaking. Can't be doing with all the chucking it about (unless I'm feeling v. cross!)
Also used them for making the Delia Stollen recipe - it came out very 'light' - no good for trad stollen lovers, but great for those that find stollen too heavy!
Any hoo, I think they work ok - but I can't really compare them to the normal method. Give them a whirl (hoho!) and see how you get on....Good Luck0
