I hope this meet goes well for you all but just a few tips from someone who has organised a couple.

First thing, safety in meeting up with strangers is paramount. Remember that for every member reading MSE there are another two who haven't joined up but can still read the thread. I would suggest you find a central family style pub to meet up in so it suits non drinkers as well as those happy to sink a few :)

For the girls/ladies going on their own, see if you can swap mobile numbers with another that you feel happy with so you can text each other and aren't walking in on your own. Make sure someone at home knows where you are going too.

Secondly you'll find that probably only half who say they are coming will actually arrive so don't be too disappointed but you will find that those that do come along will enjoy meeting up with other MSE'rs. Unless those people who have come to the Edinburgh meet's have been lying to me :D

Bumping this post back up again as it is important.

angeldelite, please don't be standing outside anywhere on your own. Try and think of a family type pub/restaurant like a Weatherspoon that you can organise your meet round that way if people can't make 7.00 pm they can come later. It also means you broaden your "group" by welcoming people with families who can't get a baby sitter but might like to join you for an hour or two having a meal.

    :)

i've just found this as i actually have a bit of time to look at more than the usual threads! is it too late to express an interest in coming (if i can persuade DH to babysit!)? I live in dewsbury but really don't fancy the frontier as last time i went i left after half an hour! v expensive & full of teenagers so i felt old at 31!

    OMG this came round quick!!

All's i gotta do is sort the babysitter, not gonna have 'loadsa' money so i cant do clubbin, but can do a few drinks....:D

Time: I would say about 8ish, not too early so wont be rushing round trying to get ready, and not too late for those who cant stay too late.

    Whats everyone else think?

And is it the square by McD's?
