First Time Buyer Advice Needed

Hi everyone,
Firstly im new to this site and I have to say the information is so useful and has given me many ideas. anyway...
im hopefully looking to get a mortgage in 2010 and I have read some information on this site but basically want to know how I could qualify to get one. The mortgage guide has given me a clearer picture of how they work.
My partner and myself both have an an annual income of around £30,000. We have 2 small loans but they will be getting paid off soo. Does anyone know what sort of amount we could get or maybe a good advice phone number to call?
