We can't install i-tunes

Apologies if this has been asked before; I can't seem to find the answer
The children had i-pod nanos for Christmas. We've tried several times, unsuccessfully, to load i-tunes onto our desktop machine. Each time, the download gets to 100% then we get an Internet Explorer Security Warning:
We then have no option but to abort the installation
Does anyone know what the problem is, and how we can install i-tunes?
TIA :A

Windows has found a problem with this file iTunesSetup.exe. This file was blocked as it doesn't have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher.

I have not got an ipod but this seems to be a problem that specifically targets windows 7 and itunes in particular, for the last 2 years at least.... you could try reading through this forum to see if anything there helps to fix it

Apparently someone had some success in this second link by changing their IP address or subnet but I fail to see how that would help personally

OP what OS are you using?
Is that the exact error message as googling it the only hit is your post.
Could you try downloading it with another browser e.g. Firefox?
Where are you downloading it from? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

OP if you're running Vista this should fix it for you.

May also be the same fix for Windows 7 if you're running that.
Before editing the registry it's a good idea to create a system restore point in case you mess it up.It's my problem, it's my problem

I'm using Vista.
Yes, that's the exact error message - I'd googled already and found no hits
I'm downloading directly from the Apple website:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Make sure you have updated your OS use windows update
2. make sure you have downloaded the correct version of i tunes there is a specific 64bit version.0
