Hi Guys,
Been lurking for a month or so, but only just joined and thought I would say Hi.
I'm trying to run down my debts at the moment and figured that "New year = new start" and all of that malarky and that its time to join MSE.
I'll shortly be cobbling together a list of debts and an SOA. In the meantime though, Hi

Hiya and welcome. Ive been around awhile but dont often post but have decided to take the plunge and seriously work on the debts with hubby.
Getting pretty fed up of working to pay for the expensive splurges, most of which hang in the wardrobe unworn or were items I cant even remember wasting money on, lol.
Also want to do a major clear out and raise some money back from the unused stuff I have laying around. Think I will postpone this for a few months and Im guessing ebay is a buyers market now so wont raise much from the sale of the items.
Good luck in you fight against the demon debt. I need luck too to stay on the wagon!0 -
As my debts are relativly minimala compared to some on here (I estimate approx 6.5k) I've decided that attack is my best form of defence - I've been paying close attention to the £100 into £10,000 thread and I've a bit of an entrepenurial streak so hopefully I should be able to sort everything out by this time next year.
SOA etc is still coming, and I'll still be doing my upmost to clear everything by "normal" means but I think that trying to earn the money to do it might be slightly more fun :T
My lightbulb moment came at the end of August when I lost my job and suddenly found myself spiraling - not a lot I could do at that point though. Luckily I found myself a job pretty quickly (better work, better company, better paid) only problem is that its a 70 mile commute whereas before it was a 5min walk! Anyhow, I have now arrested the spiral - and am looking to get everything paid back and move (Scarily its cheaper to commute that distance than live near my office!)
I am now in the employ of a major "high end" credit card company (although I prefer to keep which one on the hush hush )Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
Hi catflea and welcome.
Makes no difference if your debt is large or small, we're here to help! complete that full SOA as a starting point, it can seem scary seeing it all down in black & white but it's your gateway to seeing exactly what you owe and how to tackle it.
Look for your 'red flag' areas where you know your weaknesses are for spending money and look at unaccounted for little spends that really mount up such as coffee, sandwiches, treats, magazines etc....
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Good luck at facing the debt before it gets out of hand. I only wish I had haha!
I also read with interest the thread on turning 100 into 10,000 and I do think its do-able with determination and wise investment at the start.
I love bootsales myself and can often be found when the weather is milder strolling around in the early hours but have never thought of buying items to sell on ebay or such. I can imagine this can be quite lucrative as Ive picked up some complete bargains myself! You can spot the professionals a mile off as they seem to be hunting specific items etc, lol. Mind you all power to them if they make a living from it. Must be very rewarding and Im sure the bootsellers dont mind as they just want to declutter for the most part.
Anyways, good luck if you decide to take up the 100 -10,000 challenge. I will be watching that thread with interest.0 -
I'm actually at work at the mo, so no scope to deal with SOA and I'll need to do some ringing round to find out exact figures and the like.
In terms of debts do I need to include my "daily" credit card which gets paid in full each month :A (obviously it needs to go on SOA as its a payment that goes out)Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0
