Evans not increasing VAT

Just been on the evans site and there is a flashing bulletin at the top that says they will not be passing the VAT increase on to customers. I'm guessing as they are part of the Arcadia group that hopefully all the other shops in the group will do the same.

It's very good of them, considering some shops are using the increase as a selling tool to get people to buy before tomorrow.

don't know if it was just me but i noticed quite a few shops were back up to the round prices after xmas last year and so now can advertise they are not putting the VAT back up again....cos they already did, i went to evans earlier this year and the sales assistant asked her manager if they were still doing VAT reduction and she shook her head

I'm going to be honest, this whole Vat shenanigans is awfully farfetched. its going up what 2.5%? Hardly effects people shopping for clothes unless they buy a ton.

Been the biggest con recently it really has, when it was first reduced shops were falling over themselves giving a VAT refund off the marked price, a couple o fmonths later and that disapeared, only M+S on the high street continued refunding the VAT , the rest just pocketed it for themselves, if they now add another 2.5% it will really take the !!!! !
