there are quite alot of purple flowers out there so don't feel the need to stick to the norm. there is statice, allium, iris, freesia, tulips, anemone, larkspur, liatris, lisianthus, to name just a few!

At my wedding it was the flowers which tied everything together at the last minute.I found that coloured sashes on my girls dresses were just too much. Most of the accessories and flowers were pure white with touches of deep purple and I found that was enough. My wedding colours were deep purple and white,me in purple and my girls in white bridesmaid and flower girl dresses.Everyone looked really good together although all were slightly different.
My girls and I matched really well using the flowers, white roses and deep purple lisianthus, the girls had little lilac daisies in their posies too.
OH had a black suit and deep purple waistcoat.
My mum wore a peacock blue outfit with dark freshwater pearls as her jewellery which had purple hues in them too.Matching beads on her fascinator.
MIL wore a multi coloured outfit in deep plums with some purple.
FIl had a dark grey suit, lilac shirt and deep purple tie.
Son wore a dark grey trousers and waistcoat with a white shirt.
    Sil wore black velvet.
My aunt wore a lilac dress adn my uncle wore a grey suit, white shirt and lilac tie.
The photographer turned up in full highland dress and looked a bit out of place and overdressed:o
(My celebrant wore a pink wool bouncle jacket which really clashed with my dress and the whole scheme but thankfully there are not many pics with her in them.)
All the men had sea holly button holes and all the ladies had white rose and purple lisianthus corsages and it all tied in beautifully.
So apart from the girls outfits and my own dress which I thought about and planned so they would go well everyone(except the celebrant) just made sure they wouldnt clash with my purple and it all ended up looking fantastic.

thanks again to all the new replies, wedding is 2nd october. I understand what everyone is saying about flowers but i love really simple bouquets, and want lots of ivory. but will speak to my florist and see what she would suggest too - but i dont want lots of different flowers.

I dont think sashes will look too much as young Bms are completely ivory so a hint of colour in their sashes will be fine, and as my sister is probably going to wear the darker purple dress i think a bit of colour will liven it up, so really want to go down this route i think.

thanks again for all the help - any other colour suggestions?

just to say, a big thank you again, yesterday we managed to get the menswear all sorted so think i am pretty set now with the colours, have stuck to purples, and just broadened it to include a few different ones, and will have a mixed bouquet aswell.

weve gone completely non traditional, not white shirts and waistcoats, but its what H2b wants, and he suits this style more so think he will be more comfortable.

    the shirts are these

    but with this tie

(it is a little more purple than this and does go very nicely together) and we have bought silver ties too, just incase. the tie pretty much matches my sisters dress, and think i will go for a sash that is close to one of the other purples on the shirt.

I really like the whole outfit, but i have to admit i am quite nervous that it may all look quite dark? let me know what you think?

Hi, I am getting married on 1st Sept next year. You semt o be worried about mismatching flowers. Have you thought about having artifical silk ones??? That way you can keep them forever too.

    Just an idea

PS: Our scheme is Cadbury purple and black - its so fitting cos I am a chocoholic and my husband to be is a metaller

liked the idea of green and had been thinking a lime green would look especially nice with the deeper purple

I was going to suggest lime green! i think it's gorgeous with deep purple :)
