hi we have a mortgage offer from abbey, however the survey highlighted many issues we hadnt expected to budget for and we are thinking of backing out of the sale. one option is to look for another house, if we did can we assume that we have passed underwriting stage and its simply a matter of changing the address we want the mortgage on,and another valuation? or do we have to start all over again?
planning on ringing abby next week but would appreciate any ideas before we come to a decision

I had the same case with HSBC. You do not need to start from the scratch, just inform the bank that for some reason you are not going ahead and check that for how many months the mortage will be valid for? Generally it is for six month. Bank was happy with my case and got nice house later. ALL THE BEST...PM me if you need more clarification0
