Halifax charge £175 admin fees and £50 deed depatch

Deeds are held electronically with the land registry, some building societies are returning the paper deeds free of charge ,Halifax charge £50 for deed despatch,is that a fair and reasonable charge? Remember that is in addition to the £175 they charge for discharge admin. The cost to return the deeds does not involve £50,they put them in an envelope, and inform the land registry electronically,no charge fom the registry.

How much will the land registry charge for the deeds? If its less than £50 tell the Halifax you do want them.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The land registry just give a confirmation that the property has no mortgage ,all this is done electronically,no charge, but I feel that having the paper deeds is what I want, useless I know ,but Halifax have charged me £50 to send me them rather than destroy them.To be happy you need to make someone happy.0
