Using Tesco Vouchers for a holiday

Options
Hi,

Can anyone advise me about using Clubcard vouchers for holidays?

I'm looking to book for next year but have a niggling doubt over using my vouchers for this, I have about £200 worth so far, collected over the past 18 months which I don't want to waste obviously.

I wonder if the holiday company either inflate the price before applying the vouchers, or don't give any free child places, etc. so that you end up paying much the same as you would have done plus you're using up those precious vouchers.

Alternatively can I book the holiday, for example over the net, thus fixing the price, pay the deposit and then pay the rest with clubcard tokens later?

Anyone with any experiences of booking, especially with Cosmos, that they can share with me?

Any info much appriciated, Thank you in advance for any help.

Regards, Martin.

One piece of advise I would give is to save up all your vouchers and use when you book holiday.

ie you can't pay £200 now and £100 in Nov, Dec etc

They will only take payment in one go. I booked a holiday with Haven 5 months ago and just tried to add more - No luck - and was shown T&C's

Hi, I'm saving all mine for a holiday next year, but my feeling from reading previous threads is that you need to have more than a couple of hundred pounds worth or it will be offset by paying the full brochure price.

Ideal if you have so many vouchers that you can pay for almost the whole holiday price (that's my aim and I'm doing well!).:D

I understand you cannot also get free child places unless they are in the brochure (as I think you have to pay brochure price).

I have read this on previous threads (recently in May/June), try 'search Chat forum' above with a couple of keywords (e.g. Tesco holiday) and trawl through the threads till you find relevant info. If you find a really knowledgeable poster, add a question to the old thread or maybe pm them direct if you still have questions.

Just a point about using the forum search, don't use capital letters as it doesn't like them so put in tesco holiday :)
  • I am off to Butlins later on in the year and can confirm that you do pay the brousre price however if I can paid cash my holiday would have been half price. Ive ended up paying £280 in vouchers instead of £140cah. I guess its a matter of working out whars best for you or if youd be better off spending the couhers at 4x the value at Mfi or similar. On the other hand when we went to Blackpool earlier this year we paid for our accomadation but used Tescos deals to pay for us to go up the tower visit the Zoo

I used mine for a Haven holiday and told the operator I was using them at the start of the call, she still gave me the Early Bird discount from the brochure price.

Using them with Cresta I could not get the free room on *some* hotels that were advertised in their brochure as I was using the deals tokens, but other hotels offered to me did have the free nights on.

It is worth ringing and asking for a quote on two seperate occasions with and without deals tokens to see if/what the difference is and if it is worth using them.

I used them on a Haven as well, got the internet price, minus the compulsory insurance so worked out cheaper. 1 week in Gold van week before last when it was roasting for £361, minus £90 Tesco vouchers (£360 multiplied out out) so a week for £1.
It's worth noting that most hols abroad need the hol to cost a minimum of £500.

    Hi

We are off to Sunparks in Belgium at the end of August for £4.50 thanks to Tesco clubcard vouchers. I think that they are discontinuing the offer but it was from Belgium brochure. Just phoned and sent in vouchers but cost £840. Still a bargain!!

I suggest that you keep saving until you have built up your vouchers and shop online. I do and have had a lot of extra points sent through membership to various clubs which I used to build up my balance.
