Standard Life Endowment - Surrender?

Just wondering if anyone can dispense a little advice re surrendering a Standard Life (with profits) endowment policy.
I live with my GF, with no dependants and the mortgage is paid off.
Premium: £90pm
Maturing April 2020 (25 years - value £45100)
Current Surrender Value £16666
Having recently being made redundant I have lost my right to the life cover on my pension, my GF having a good pension with life cover. One of the reasons for keeping it is for the life cover (although I am aware that life assurance policies are cheaper and pay out more for less). The 2nd reason being is the 'hope' that come 2020 the stock market will be more healthy, and I guess what I'm really asking is the wait worth the risk? The $6m dollar question!!
I also understand that the orphan asset issue is out of the question.
Interested in anyone's views or advice - thanks in advance....

Unfortunately, with the current state of the market your 'guess' is going to be as good as any expert's.0
