I too spend far too much money on food. My freezer and cupboards are packed but I still go to Morrisons each month and spend a load more!
I am determined not to go to the supermarket this month, apart from the normal bread, milk, sandwich fillings etc. (i might try the gammon joint for ham sarnies!) I reckon I probably spend £150 a month on food, so i am going to try and get this down to about £100 (there are 4 of us, OH, 15 yr old D and 7 yr old S). I try and batch cook and freeze, but I never seem to use it up!
Good luck to everyone!
Any ideas, ways to save, how to plan etc would be welcomed by all I feel!Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
Managed to get loads reduced bargains at Tescos last night.Warburtons bread reduced from £1.29 to 13p a loaf, muffins reduced from 99p to 15p, tubs pasta salad reduced from £2.00 to 20p, couscous salad reduced to 20pcoronation chicken sandwich filler reduced from £1.00 to 10p.
Bread is now stashed in freezer for a later date.
Just need to get a few bits for pack ups now and some leeks from aldi to make leek and potato soup.Have already made stock for this using turkey carcass form New Years day meal.0 -
Our Tesco never reduces the food by that much, you got some bargains there.
I have several 2kg bags of dried beans in my cupboard and plan to use these a lot this month. Yesterday I soaked about 1kg in water all day then cooked them last night and bagged them up for the freezer. Will do the same today with a different type of beans. Got the last of the turkey out of the freezer and will make a curry today using tins of curry sauce from the cupboard and rice I already have.
Tomorrow is my first day back at work and kids back at school so will make a bean chilli, which my kids love and I have all the ingredients for. So far so good!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
