Hi all
With the sales on, I'm on the hunt for some kind of throw/stole/shrug/coat/jacket/cape (you get the picture!) for me and my bridesmaids to wear over our dresses at my wedding next December - if I can get a sale price then so much the better!
I haven't got my dress or my sister's yet but this is what my DDs will be wearing and plan me and sis will also be wearing red.
I've seen these which would be ideal for DDs - I'm just not sure I like them LOL! I want to have arms covered up if poss given what the weather will be like.
I have this romantical idea of wearing red capes a la Little Red Riding Hood but doing a Google brings up all sorts of fancy dress dodgy stuff!!!:D
Also saw these (the red pair) which are a bit special (red and glittery - like a dream for me!) I expect they will cost a small fortune so looking for something similar if anyone comes across them!

Not that they really go with your theme lol...but i was on Ebay earlier and HOW lush is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310190132701&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I know it doesnt go with my theme either and also, i am getting married in october so cant really have something like that but oooooooh i want it! So vintage!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? i am finding that sorting cover ups for me and my sis is becoming an absoloute nightmare! and i havent found anything in the sales as i want ivory and ivory shawl type things never go in the sales. However as for the littler bridesmaids, what about a cardigan? monsoon have gorgeous ones
http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/33800126&bklist=icat,5,shop,children,girl,salecgirl
this is my fave, though i bought them some in the last sale but these are more gorgeous!
this is the stole i think im going to get me and sis
http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/68733415&bklist=icat,5,shop,accessorize,scarvesandwraps,wraps
just didnt want to spend £20, can get plains for around a fiver from the market though?
also, if you want a fur cape type one then debenhams have these (not red though)
http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_087010331285_-1
not in sale but for what they are i dont think the price is too bad.
if you want something red then what about this?
http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_008010813003_-1?CMP=AFC-FEED&CMP=AFC-AWIN
hope this helps, and if you dont mind me hijacking, then does anyone also know where you can get something thats kind of like a stole but is one piece of material joined at the ends, so that you pull it up on your arms and it stays there? does that make sense? i love the accessorize ones ive mentioned but have visions of me dragging one end through the mud!!getting married: 02/10/10
weight loss goal: 2st
lost so far: 11lb
(and the dress fits!)

Girls - have checked out all your linkies, thanks
I do like the idea of the faux fur-type stoles for keeping warm but I have to admit, as a veggie, the idea of wearing fake fur still doesn't sit right iykwim? Not sure if I'll pursue that idea but will keep it in mind.
I do like the cardis for DDs idea - I guess I was stallling on that one because I wasn't sure if just a cardi would be warm enough.
I still like the idea of a red cape-type affair, esp, for DDs, but whether I can find one or not is another matter! I was thinking in line with that idea, maybe a velvety-red coat which they can wear again as there seems to be plenty, something a bit flowing and dressy. Just depends what I can find for the least amount of pennies really!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Ahhh but think about it this way - if EVERYONE bought fake fur instead of real, then there would be less/no demand for real fur.....so it is a good thing!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? when we got married it was october and i too was worried about the cold and looked for bolero/shrugs etc and then ended up buying a full length bridal coat from demetrois embarrassingly it cost me more than my dress and was £750!! and was worn for the 1hr of photos!! but it was stunning and much more beautiful than anything else I could have found it was white and my dress ivory but didnt matter doesnt show at all in photos.
you have reminded me must try and sell it on ebay if only get £200 for it better than it sitting in wardrobe. I am keeping my dress though cant bear to part with it.
would def recommend looking for a full length bridal coat.
had matron of honours shrug handmade and flowergirl had a bhs cardi0 -
these may be nice for any children £4.50 each!!

If you're getting married somewhere chilly then I have two words for you:
VON LANCELOT http://www.cloakrenaissance.com
I bought these cloaks for me and my bridesmaids - we're getting married in a castle, in Scotland, in February...yes, I'm mental!
Excuse the naked mannequin...yes, it's odd...but it's from their site:
Yes, according to my chief Bridesmaid, the cloaks are as lush and fabulous as they look - they're extremely warm and they look incredible - my dress is silver haze coloured so black was the best choice for me - but they also have white ones, red ones, green ones...you name it.
If I could...I would buy my entire wardrobe from them,
He's also on ebay and has sales constantly...worth looking into!

I do quite like the look of those Mrsday - was quite alarmed when I saw the 'genuine fox fur' comments but it appears there are some without so may keep those in mind!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63
