laptop won't read memory card

My laptop no longer recognises the memory card from my camera.
Very frustrating as I'm try to ebay some bits and pieces.
I think it used to show up in My Computer as E drive, but has disappeared completely.
Help! I have limited tech knowledge but can follow instructions from those wiser than me.

is the card a sd/mmc if so these cards have a lock om the side to protect the data if it is a sd card check that the lock hasen't been pushed over0
