Not wanting to working the full notice period

I started a new job last November and to be honest I have been in a nightmare situation ever since.
I've made stupid mistakes and what ever I seem to do, I can not please my boss.....in fact she's reduced me to tears (I've never broken down in front her though) on many occasions.
At the end of my probation period I was told that it was being extended but I have a strong suspicion this is so that there would be someone to cover the work whilst she is on holiday and that when she comes back, I would be dismissed as unsuitable for the position.
Anyway miracles of all miracles I have secured another job (with more money and better perks as well!) and will be handing in my notice on Monday.
The trouble is, is that I really do not want to work the full notice period as stated in my (as yet unsigned) contract, mainly because I want to get the hell out of there and put it down to experience but also I think she will take the opportunity to really stick the knife in
Does the fact that I am weekly paid and still technicially on probation have on any bearing as to the length of my notice period?

A slightly different situation but basically this happened to me back in august, i worked for a company for 8 years and changed my shift patteren from mixed days and nights to perminant nights, was put on to a probation contract for 3 months, at the end of the 3 months they gave me some nonsence about there being a problem with my work although no problem had occured previously, they extended probation for another month, then another i went sick for a month as really peeved,they extended contract again for another month and i went in and told them they could stick their contract up their back sides and walked out without giving any notice what so ever and had no reprocussions as had not signed contract, had not agreed to work under contract, so they had no come back, they did offer me my old job back but told them to shove it as well as not being treated like that. i think that if you are not happy where you are then you should go especially if you have been offered a better job somwhere else, people in the workplace no matter who they are should not be able to treat people in this way, but if you did want to stay in this job maybe speak to your boss? just a thought0

sorry forgot to add after my spieal that it is still one weeks notice that needs to be given and this applies up to the first two years of emloyment, but you need to check what is in your probationary contract as it may state differently if it does then the contractual terms will override what the law sets out as one weeks notice, if your contract does state differently then you could hope your boss is reasonable and could be spoken to and maybe will allow you to leave earlier. hope this has covered all angles and ive got it right0

putting it very politely, there is no way on God's green earth do I want to stay there....so that is not an issue!
Al - I'm quite prepared to work until the end of next week - especially as it is the end of the month, it will make everything so much neater with regards holidays etc.
As I get paid weekly, I was planning on taking the following week off - so crossed fingers eh?2014 Target;

Have you got any outstanding holiday allowance? Our probationers have to give a weeks notice but sometimes they have so much leave that they are able to walk out the same day they give notice - it's a bit of a nuisance but they are perfectly entitled to do that.
Hopefully you've got some holiday to use up and you won't have to work right up to the last minute.
Do you want these employers to give you a reference for the next job? You might have to be a bit diplomatic if you don't want a bad reference.0 -
I assume you already have a reference from them for your new job? I would be inclined to give notice and leave at the end of the week if you can afford to do so.0

well I've written my letter of resignation (yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and in it I've stated that I don't think it's in either parties best interests for me tio work the full notice period as stated in the contract handed to me, so we'll have to see what happens today ........mind you I'm half expecting to be escorted off the building today!
As for references, I've explained the situation to my new employers and they are happy to accept a reference from my former employer so that angle is covered.
