i've used this free service a few years running for edinburgh's hogmanay and everyone has been very friendly and though quite drunken most people behaved themselves quite well so it isn't as bad as some might worry about!0

Lothian Region night buses are free too but please be aware that due to the city centre being closed the night buses start from points out with the city centre.

Thats a really good idea. They say there is sponsored free travel in London but this is only after midnightish on tubes and not buses so any nights out still have the cost of fare there so it isnt really that much help esp when you will be using an Oyster as you will incur a £5 penalty for uncompleted journey as you touch in but wont have to touch out as barriers will be open.I guess it can help to put ppl off driving tho whic is always a good thing. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

According to the News just now its free on buses as well in London?
Wrap up well anyone heading into Edinburgh tonight and please take care in the snow and ice.0 -
I'll second that. Yes I saw that on the news myself and it means buses after 12 I think and round here none of them run that late.
Hope everyone has a safe warm and well New Years Eve.What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
How civilised. There was no public transport at all after 7pm on new year's eve where I live0

Hope anyone wanting to get the free Edinburgh ones did. Last year there were about a crowd of 20 of us all waiting and eventually after 2 hours gave up and had to get a taxi!0
