Smaller dinner plates etc

I'm looking to buy a new set of dinner plates which are smaller than the ones I have. ATM I have Asda Smartprice ones which are about 25cm in diameter and I can't help but want to fill the plate with food
I'm trying to serve my DD just child sized portions & trying to cut back myself but the proper sized meals look lost and, it must be a mental thing, I don't feel full. Any ideas where I can get some new ones?
I don't have a car so trying to get to outlet places or my local IKEA is a nightmare.

you need breakfast plates,I got some
Arcopol ones in the 99p shop they only had them
in mint green or blue,Home Bargains and the
B&M stores sell the same ones.alternativly
use a Pyrex pie plate,dual purpose then.:j:j:j0 -
I got some recently from Tesco, for exactly the reasons you said
I got their cheeapy value / smart price range and the plates are only 22cm from edge to edge (as I have just gone and measured it for you to check) - I got 2 sets as there are 5 of us, and they are not that strong, so not sure how long they will last
I then put all the other plates in the garage (hubby complained I was starving him and brought one back in for him)
At first it was strange, as I did not feel full, - kids thought it was better, now it does not bother me at all, although I did have to get used to cooking less,
as I am trying to lose weight I was sad enough to look into this, as I was always brought up to clear my plate (hence the big belly), and discovered plates have grown around 2inches since the 60's :eek:0 -
oops sorry, Just noticed you don't drive, hopefully tesco should have it on their website?0

Not a problem about getting to Tesco, thats within walking distance all be it a 30min walk
Plus I have some vouchers for there so I'll take a trip that way tomorrow thanks weather permitting.
I just looked at Asda and the only ones that had were rectangular ones which I wasn't very keen on as they were more or less the same size as the Smartpriceones!Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
TJ Hughes had a set of smaller ones in the other day - I think it was £3 the box - they were white and were called dinner plates, but were too small for my greedy mob.
I think it may have been these - I saw them instore, but you can't tell the size online.

I have to agree with Colin2511, I was brought up to clear my plate and even now I still do it, even if I'm feeling full. Every Monday when I start my diet I use my nephews' smaller sized plates as I can still clear the plate whilst sticking to my diet. Unfortunately the smaller plates don't help me stick to my diet for more than a day or 2........•

TJHughes is also sort of within walking distance, well its 3 miles away I think, but its getting there. Will keep those plates in mind though, if Tesco don't have any tomorrow I might jump the bus into town and go to TJs since the bus from by Tesco's goes right past TJs!Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
